  • AP Bio labs online: from the Prentice-Hall website, this step-by step lab tutorial first discusses the science behind each required lab before taking an interactive look at procedure and results
  • BiologyZone: put together by an AP biology teacher, this site provides access to notes, handouts, labs and other resources to help students succeed in AP biology

  • DNA from the Beginning:a graphics-rich content review of DNA, genes and heredity
  • Dolan DNA Learning Center: a wealth of interactive activities on a range of genetic topics like cancer, genetic origins and eugenics (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory)
  • Genetics Education Center: from the University of Kansas, a site for educators that includes lesson plans, careers, fact sheets, outreach programs and links to meetings
  • Genetics Science Learning Center: from the University of Utah, find up-to-date tutorials, podcasts, and reference information in this well constructed, helpful site
  • Genome News Network: complete genome sequences, news stories, and book reviews are some of the offerings here
  • Mendel Museum: online exhibition from the museum in the Czech Republic, including links to even more Mendelian genetics resources
  • General Biology (interactive sites)

  • Biology in Motion: a variety of unique Flash applications that can help you teach biology
  • Connecting Concepts: web-based activities designed for undergraduate students but appropriate for some high school students
  • OLogy: by the American Museum of Natural History, middle school students can explore topics in genetics, marine biology and biodiversity
  • Schoolscience: based in the UK, this website offers a range of online activities for students of various ages, in various sciences (including biology)
  • General Biology (lesson plans)

    • Access Excellence: the epitome of useful sites for biology teachers, if you haven’t checked it out, go here first
    • Amazing Biology Teacher Resources: a wealth of lessons, worksheets, classroom management ideas, and links compiled by an experienced science teacher
    • BioEdOnline: from the Baylor College of Medicine, a collection of resources for classroom use, the latest news in biology, discussion groups, etc.
    • Biology Corner: a teacher-created website full of lessons and activities as well as useful links for bio teachers
    • Hands-on Activities from Serendip: Downloadable activities on a range of bio topics that you can use in the middle- or high- school classroom
    • Natural Inquirer: website for a free publication by the USDA Forest Service–this is a wonderful science journal written for middle school students
    • Science Teacher’s Resource Center: Another teacher’s collection of labs, activities and lessons for chemistry, life science and physics.
